The National Guard Association of Puerto Rico (NGAPR) was founded in 1986 and is comprised of over 1,500 members organized for the following purposes:

Promote and support National and Commonwealth security within the constitutional parameters of the Constitution of the United States of America and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.

Promote better relations between the Puerto Rico National Guard and the National Guard Association of Puerto Rico with the citizenship.

Foster and provide opportunities for close association, friendship, understanding, common purpose and joint efforts among members of the Association.

Promote legislation beneficial to the security, well being and progress of the United States of America, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the Puerto Rico National Guard, the National Guard Association of Puerto Rico, and its individual members.

Promote and enhance among its members and the citizenship, the full and honest discharge of military and civic responsibilities.

Commemorate those who gave their lives, limbs and sanity in the service of their country.
